(I believe this William Varley is son of John Varley (b. 1734) and Elizabeth Hanson, and therefore the named Grandmother Elizabeth was the wife of William Varley)

Know all Men, by these presents that we Elizabeth Varley of Almondbury in the County of York, Widow, and James Sykes of North Crosland in the Parish of Almondbury aforesaid Clothier
do stand and are firmly bounden and obliged unto the Worshipful PETER JOHNSON, Master of Arts, Commissary of the Exchequer Court of the most Reverend Father Primate of England and Metropolitan lawfully constituted in the Sum of three pounds and two shillings of good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to the said commissary or his true and lawful Attorney, Executors, Administrators, or Assigns, to which Payment well and truly to be made, We bind us and every of us jointly and severally for and in the whole our and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators and every of them, fairly be these Presents Sealed with our Seals Dated the sixth day of the Month of August in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety nine.
The Condition of this Obligation is such, That if the above bounden Elizabeth Varley Widow the Grandmother and only next of kin and Tutor or Guardian of the minors hereafter named her Executors or Administrators, and every or any of them do well and faithfully Educate and bring up Joseph Varley, John Varley, William Varley and Anne Varley the Natural and lawful Children of William Varley late of Almondbury in the Diocese of York, Clock-Maker, Deceased, with sufficient Meat, Drink, Cloths, and all other necessaries, agreeable to their Condition or Estate, during their Minority. And make a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels and Credits belonging to the said Children and Exhibit the same into the Registry of the Exchequer Court at YORK, at or before the sixth Day of February next ensuing the Date hereof, and also make or cause to be made a true and just Account of the same when she shall be thereunto lawfully called. And do also well and truly content, satisfy, and pay or cause to be well and truly contented, satisfied, and paid unto the said minority their Executors, Administrators and Assigns, all such Filial or Child’s Part and Portion, Gifts, Legacies and other person Estate, and all other Rights, Dues and Demands due or
Owing to the said Minors by the Death, Last Will and Testament of their said late Father Deceased, or otherwise when they shall accomplish the Age of One and twenty Years, be Married, or otherwise lawfully Demand the same. And moreover if need require, enter into better Bond with more sufficient Sureties, for Performance of the Premises, as the Judge of the said Court for the Time being, shall think requisite and needful. And lastly, do save, defend and harmless keep the above named Commissary and all his Officers and Ministers against all Persons by Reason of the Premises. Then this present Obligation to be void and of none Effect, or else to remain in full Force and Virtue.
