 Brock-street Methodist Church was the scene on Wednesday of the marriage of Mr. Walter Ellis Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brown, of 95, Bowerham road, and Miss Edith. Margaret Varley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs., Arthur Varley, of 36, Dallas-road.

There was a large attendance to witness the ceremony, both bride and bridegroom being well known locally. Mr. Brown is at the present time on the head office staff of the District Bank, Ltd., Manchester. His bride, is a Bachelor of Science, was until recently a

member of the staff of the Dallas road Central Council School. She has been prominently identified with the tennis section of the Lancaster Cricket, Bowling and Tennis club, and made several very successful appearances in the productions of the Lancaster Footlights club. Her father until his retirement, was a director of the Co-operative Wholesale Society.

 The service which was choral was conducted by the Rev. F. J. Jenkins. The bride, who was give away by her father, wore an exclusive ensemble with a printed crepe-de-chine dress in an attractive shade of wine, with a close fitting angora coat of the same shade, and wine coloured hat of satin and felt, which completed a most effective toilet. She was also wearing a spray of carnations and lilies of the valley.

 Her only attendant was her niece, Miss Thelma Cherry, who looked charming in a green floral crepe-de-chine frock with a band of tiny rosebuds. She carried a posy of pink tulips and silver ribbons.

 In attendance on the bridegroom, was his brother, Mr. Reginald Brown, BA., whilst Mr. J N Cherry acted as groomsman.

 Following the reception Mr. and Mrs. Brown left for London, and the south for their honeymoon, the bride travelling in her wedding ensemble, with a mink marmot coat.

 The many presents included a chromium and oak tea wagon from the children of the Dallas-road Central School, electric fire, toaster and two shades from the headmaster and staff, Dallas-road Central School; a five valve Marconi wireless set from the staff, District Bank Head Office, Manchester; Pyrex glass bowl from typists of Trustee Department, District Bank, Head Office, Manchester; Pyrex Casserole in pewter stand, from typists of Securities Department, District Bank, Head Office, Manchester.
